Software Engineer - VB.Net

As a Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the stability and performance of our critical production systems. Your responsibilities will include providing timely support and performing application development across our core technology stack, including C# .NET, and VB.NET. You will also directly manage and troubleshoot applications that interface with on-site manufacturing units. This role requires a focus on practical problem-solving, meticulous change control, and clear communication with on-site stakeholders to ensure seamless operations. You will also be responsible for maintaining and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).


What You’ll Do:

Production Support (50%)

· Triage and resolve tickets within defined SLAs using Jira; provide clear status, hypothesis, and resolution summaries.

· Perform approved data fixes and validations in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) under established change-control and safety procedures.

· Reproduce issues, analyze logs/telemetry, identify likely root causes, and propose durable fixes.

· Update Confluence pages with Standard Work procedures, FAQs, and checklists as processes evolve.

Application Development (50%)

o Implement features and bug fixes in C# .NET and VB.NET.

o Contribute to machine-interfacing modules (device I/O, services, desktop apps) following on-site safety and release protocols.

o Write unit/integration tests, participate in code reviews, and improve diagnostics/observability.

o Build small utilities to streamline common data-fix or operational workflows.

On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:

· Minimum 5 years of professional experience with C# .NET and VB.NET.

· Solid SQL skills and hands-on experience using SSMS (queries, updates, transactions).

· Working knowledge of Jira (ticket workflows, SLAs, dashboards) and Confluence (editing/organizing pages).

· Able to analyze the existing code and systems.

· Familiarity with Git, Windows applications/services, and basic troubleshooting on Windows.

· Ability to work on-site in lab/production environments and follow safety/change-control procedures.

· Clear written and verbal communication with operations and engineering stakeholders.


We'd be super excited if you have:

· Exposure to VB6.

· Experience with hardware/machine interfaces (serial/USB/TCP, drivers, instrument control) or industrial/lab settings.

· Scripting for automation (PowerShell/Python) and basic networking.

· Familiarity with CI/CD and monitoring/logging tools.
